Ready or not, the 80’s fashion revival is in full swing. I, for one, am not totally sure I am ready to relive the era of my gangly, awkward youth. However, HøFSisters exists to bring trends, brands and style inspiration to our tall readers, come what may.
The Double-Breasted Blazer
So, here I am, in an Acne Studios double-breasted blazer, sleeves rolled up like a Miami Vice wannabe. The style is masculine so we softened the look with another 80’s icon, the high-neck body. (HøFTip -this item works best on an empty stomach or a salad lunch.) The overall effect is relaxed but sharp; a don’t-mess-with-me attitude on a dress down day.
As with other masculine trends already embraced by HøFSisters, the 80’s blazer works really well on a long torso, especially this oversized number. We get to wear the blazer, rather than the blazer wearing us. And there’s definitely no danger of exposing a chilly gap when bending down to put on your loafers.
Speaking of loafers, the Tod’s pair I am sporting here, which you may recognise from Han’s wardrobe, are fabulous. Don Johnson, eat your heart out. These are more worthy of Michael Jackson in his heyday; glitter-tastic and ready for a moonwalk.
The 80’s Conclusion
So, are we feeling revved up for this yet?
While writing this blog, I have decided to dig out those 80’s classics Pretty in Pink and The Breakfast Club (oh, the nostalgia!) – definitely ripe for another viewing. I googled Molly Ringwald, and there it was, the inspiration I needed – she spent a great deal of the 80’s rocking a mannish oversized blazer.
So, it’s a Miami Vice/Michael Jackson/Molly Ringwald mash-up. What’s not to love?
