Coming back from a great holiday can be a difficult thing. I’m writing this from my living room table; freezing cold feet, crazed from lack of sleep and lathered in fake tan just to keep it all alive. My carefree holiday spirit, tuned for maximum fun, cannot comprehend that less than 48hrs ago I was watching the sea from Camps Bay with a glass of Pimm’s in hand and my bones and spirit warmed by South African rays.
I am told that Cape Town has this effect. The dramatic natural beauty, endless sunshine, smiling, un-rushed people enjoying the laid-back vibes of the city creating an almost hedonistic environment. I drank it all in, bought the dream, and came away with a plan to try and spend at least some of my year in that fabulous city. The seed has been planted. However, for now I just need small ways to defeat the post-holiday blues, and I reckon this pink knit might just be one of those.
I gravitate towards neutral colours when I don’t want to put a lot of thought into what I’m wearing. However, there’s nothing like a bright pop of colour, whether in the form of an accessory or garment of clothing, to lift an outfit and a mood. You may notice that we always love to talk about how clothes make us feel. To us, not taking fashion too seriously means dressing for yourself and not to impress others. Man Repeller is the brave and fully committed way to embrace this mantra. At the HøFSisters end of the spectrum we like to look and feel good without sacrificing too much time and energy to fashion. A shirt, knit and denim outfit might not be cutting edge sartorially speaking but a classic look with a twist is right up our street.
This beautiful Raspberry Crush cashmere knit is from the SS17 collection at Donna Ida; the bright colour and cute cropped sleeves make it a perfect spring addition to any girl’s wardrobe and so easy to layer effectively over any manner of shirts, blouses, t-shirts or tops.
Here, I have layered it over a silk Equipment shirt, paired with high rise M.I.H jeans. Slightly cropped, in a faded wash with a raw hem finish these versatile jeans are the most flattering in my wardrobe right now and I love them. They are just as happy with white trainers or high tops as they are with pointy high heels or these fab grey mules from Next.
The cross body bag from Next has attracted a disproportionately high number of comments relative to its low cost. LOVE it. As I do my contemporary and totally unique pearl cocktail ring from Claudia Bradby. So, just as soon as I have blow-dried my fake tan and warmed my feet in thick bed socks, I’m going to stop lamenting the fact I can no longer slumber around in a bikini and get into my bright pink knit. Because one thing I’m certain of is that wishing you were somewhere else at some other time is to neglect the most important thing of all. The Now.
