You may remember in my June roundup of the top summer trends and how to wear them, I talked about gingham being like Kim Kardashian; seemingly everywhere yet no-one’s quite sure why. Well… Call me a hypocrite but I’ve decided I actually quite like the style in classic colours (the same does not apply to Kim, mind). This navy gingham blouse from River Island with its puff sleeves and cold shoulder is an elegant thing and, paired with white jeans and block heeled sandals, makes for a perfect summer evening outfit.
White jeans are notoriously hard to pull off and a decent pair (particularly when you’re tall) hard to come by. Back in my teens, when no amount of eating would add fat to my protruding bones, I would happily float around in skinny white jeans and think nothing of it. This is no longer a good look. Even if the jeans aren’t so see-through that you can see the freckles on my bottom, any spare pounds are not only on show, but they’re the starring role. The solution is to go for “mom-fit” jeans, a bit looser and slouchier than a straight leg but not as baggy as a boyfriend style.
This pair are from Vero Moda, a fantastic Danish brand sold at ASOS, much of which is in the Tall range and is well worth a browse. I had to cuff these quite far to get the right length over the strap of the sandals – a rare problem given cuffing is usually a token effort when you’re over 6ft tall!
The shoes are my super comfy block heel sandals from Next. Block heels continue to dominate the shoe scene, along with mules and sliders. The stiletto, it seems, is having a prolonged hiatus, and I can’t claim to be disappointed. I accessorised with a rather wonderful Chloe-esque metallic hoop handbag, from which I immediately removed the shoulder strap and now carry around on my wrist like a giant bracelet charm. Hopefully, it will bring me lots of good luck…
Love this post from the title to the beautiful photos to the accessible stockists

Hi Val, yes they are a bit low on stock but they do often bring more in, so keep an eye on them! Will let you know if I find any others x
